DON'T SHILLY SHALLY

This recently popped into my inbox:-

Dearest Villain,

I am a daily reader of your tremendous blog. I am not exaggerating when I say I look forward to each day's new posting.

Anyway, I have a small favour to ask. Recently, my external hard drive crashed and I lost over 13,000 songs. Currently I am trying to restore my collection of Edwyn Collins, and one of my favourite tracks eludes me in the most irritating of fashions. I have searched for "Don't Shilly Shally" all over the internet, through means legal and otherwise with no luck whatsoever. I believe it was through your blog that I acquired the mp3 in the first place. Is there any chance you could see fit to sending me a copy? I would be most indebted.

Thank you very much for your time

Ryan

Delighted to oblige Ryan. And here's the various versions I have to hand:-

mp3 : Edwyn Collins - Don't Shilly Shally
mp3 : Edwyn Collins - Don't Shilly Shally (Spotter's 86 Demo Version)
mp3 : Edwyn Collins - Don't Shilly Shally (live)

The first is the original (both the 7" and 12" versions are identical)

The second is on on version of the CD single of A Girl Like You

The third is from a live recording for French radio back in 1994

Oh and there's this:-

Happy Listening and watching.

Great sleeve, great track, great man. Sadly did not see him last week at Oran Mor but sounds like it was a great night.

wonderful wonderful track. Bought one of only a handful of cd singles just to get this track back in the day.
Oh and lesson hopefully learnt - always back up your hard drives, they are cheap and unpredictable. I learnt my lesson five years ago when I had to buy a special program just to recover most of my mp3s - very painful lesson.
