THE SINGULAR ADVENTURES OF EDWYN COLLINS (Part 11)

A month after Adidas World had been unleashed on a rather apathetic record-buying public, Setanta Records put out a very strange release in November 1997.  It was almost as if it was rounding up a bundle of remixes destined for b-sides for singles that would have been released if the hits had kept on coming.

For years I had no idea that this record actually existed until I saw it under a listings of Edwyn's solo releases. As luck would have it, I stumbled across a copy a few months later in a second hand store.

There's 2 x 12" singles. No info is provided on the labels. Just a sticker on a plain white sleeve:-

Record 1 : ZOP PR005A

mp3 : Edwyn Collins - Superficial Cat (Red Snapper Mix)
mp3 : Edwyn Collins - Seventies Night (Deadly Avenger Supershine Mix)
mp3 : Edwyn Collins - Superficial Cat (Red Snapper Vocal Mix)

Record 2 : ZOP PR005B

mp3 : Edwyn Collins - Downer (James Lavelle Mix)
mp3 : Edwyn Collins - The Magic Piper Of Love (The Wiseguys Sniper Mix)
mp3 : Edwyn Collins - Adidas World (Adileted by Sebastian Lewsley)
mp3 : Edwyn Collins - Downer (James Lavelle Vocal Mix)

These shouldn't just be of interest to those completists out there....the James Lavelle mixes in particular are worth checking out. It predates his 1998 LP Psyence Fiction but it's similar in many ways

The next Edwyn single wouldn't appear until 2001.  And it was a collaboration......
