SOMEONE WHO GOT AN HONOURABLE MENTION YESTERDAY
Back in June 2009, a very fine self-titled debut by Lord Cut-Glass was released on Chemikal Underground. Lord Cut-Glass is none other than Alun Woodward, who was, if you recall from yeaterday's posting formerly one-part of The Delgados.
It's not a substantial body of work with its 11 tracks extending to just over 37 minutes. It's also rather different from what his old band had produced....acoustic in nature with a fair bit of strings, brass and piano. It's also an album that changes tempo a fair few times and still manages to ensure every song has a hook that ensures you will be singing or humming along forever more. It's also become one of my favourite releases of recent years. Every time I play the album I change my mind about what's my favourite track. Right now it's this:-
mp3 : Lord Cut-Glass - You Know
If you don't already own Lord Cut-Glass you have the ability to do something about by making an on-line purchase from the Chemikal Underground website. Click Here. A word of warning....there's lots of goodies to tempt you...including a stunning 20 song sampler for free.

Will be listening to this in a wee while. By the way, nothing wrong with a 37-minute album! Pet Sounds is 28 minutes.
I was completely obsessed with You Know for the longest time. I love Lord Cut-Glass.
