Together they made two great singles in 84 and 85 that have been posted before on TVV...and I'm certain they will be posted again in the future.
In the meantime, I wanted to feature a tune that they wrote together, versions of which ended up on solo recordings. First up was Edwyn and the opening track on his 1990 LP Hellbent On Compromise:-
mp3 : Edwyn Collins - Means To An End
Three years later, Paul had enlisted the help of Edwyn's old sparring partner James Kirk to updtae the tune and lyrics for a track which appeared on a single, which incidentally was produced by Edwyn:-
mp3 : Paul Quinn & The Independent Group - Passing Thought
Finally, in October 1994, with the song now attributed to Paul Quinn/Edwyn Collins/James Kirk/Alan Horne/Blair Cowan, a different version was recorded for the LP Will I Ever Be Inside Of You:-
mp3 : Paul Quinn & the Independent Group - A Passing Thought
It's all bloody brilliant if you ask me.
