THIS ONE COMES TO A HALT VERY ABRUPTLY
mp3 : Dinosaur Jr - Just Like Heaven
Right at 2:56 just when you're expecting another chorus, you instead get an anguished yell. Where Robert Smith on the original version sings sweetly and in a rather melancholy manner about the relationship ending, J Mascis sounds as if he has taken a razor blade to his wrists to bring an end to his misery.
Cracking cover version which dates all the way back to 1989 and just the fourth single released by Dinosaur Jr.
My CD version of this release was a bargain for £1.99. Not only did I get the three songs normally available with Just Like Heaven but I also got both tracks that had been on the previous single, albeit the sweary word on Freakscene was replaced:-
mp3 : Dinosaur Jr - Throw Down
mp3 : Dinosaur Jr - Chunks (a last rights tune)
mp3 : Dinosaur Jr - Freakscene (censored version)
mp3 : Dinosaur Jr - Keep The Glove
Happy Listening

I have this single on 3" CD. Remember those? Ridiculous. The first time I played it I was sure it was defective. The song ended so abruptly! Some fans thought the band was poking fun at Smith and the original, but I have read in a few places they really liked the song. One of my favorite covers. They really made it their own.
Thanks.
Freak Scene (censored) is the rare version. Keep The Glove is different from the Freak Scene single and the Fossils comp, too.
Do you have the Out There 10''? A live version of The Post is on that, unreleased anywhere else.
Thanks anon....hadn't realised that about Keep The Glove....I later picked up a copy of Freakscene but assumed it was the exact same. So that's me got a 'new' Dinosaur Jr song to enjoy 20 plus years on!!
Sorry to say I dont have the 10" of Out There...
i've got the vinyl of this... bit of an of an oddity too... it's one sided, with a strange picture etched on to the other side of the vinyl...
and yeah first time i heard it i thought my copy was broken...
here's a pic of it thanks to the wonders of the internet... as they say 'pointless but cool'
