IT'S FRIDAY......LET'S DANCE (ME IN)*

* with apologies to Drew for ripping-off the title of his excellent long-running series over here.

Back in 2005, Sons and Daughters I reckoned were going to be the next huge act to come out of Scotland.  The previous year had seen the release of the hugely-acclaimed mini-LP Love The Cup while 2005 itself had seen them take it a notch up with the brilliance of The Repulsion Box not to mention the fact that as a live act there were few to match them.

Sadly, it just never really happened although they have enjoyed a degree of success that takes them out mere cult status if not truly into the stratosphere of the rich and famous.

One of the best tracks on The Repulsion Box is this:-

mp3 : Sons and Daughters - Dance Me In

Domino Records hit upon the wheeze of having Edwyn Collins take the track and give it a slightly different mix for release as a 45:-

mp3 : Sons and Daughters - Dance Me In (single version)

The 7" came on red vinyl with this re-make of another track from what was the current LP:-

mp3 : Sons and Daughters - Drunk Medicine

While the CD came with these two songs:-

mp3 : Sons and Daughters - Come In Out Of The Rain
mp3 : Sons and Daughters - Blood

While the latter is a completely new recording of one of the tracks originally recorded for Love The Cup, the former is a very understated cover version of this from 1970:-

Oh and as the CD also contained the video of Dance Me In, It seems only fair to link that too:-

Happy Listening

That Parliament track is stinking, thanks. Saw Sons and Daughters back when, and their stuff still holds up too. Thanks.

Oops, I meant to say Stonking, not 'Stinking'! Couldn't get the SaD video to work btw.

Woah, didn't know about that cover. Love Parliament and Funkadelic and can't wait to hear this.
