SATURDAY'S SCOTTISH SINGLE (Part 44)
As their own website says:-
eagleowl are a lo-fi post folk ensemble from Edinburgh, Scotland eagleowl believe in doing things right, rather than doing things fast
They've so far released a 5-track CD in August 2008, a 7" single in December 2009 and a 4-track CD in May 2010, all of which have been limited editions. So the suggestion of right rather than fast is pretty accurate.
They're a band that Matthew at Song By Toad has raved about from the very beginning - and indeed it was his making available one of the songs on his blog that made me rush out and grab one of the 500 copies available of the debut EP. He described one song as a work of genius but due to the language was unlikely ever getting played on the radio - but it sure beat the shit out of 99% of the stuff that does. And he's right....
mp3 : eagleowl - Mf
The other four tracks aren't as immediately as accessible but are rather lovely in that indie-folk sort of way and very much worth a listen....which you can do by visiting here. And when you like what you hear you can make a wee donation and download each of the tracks.
